The Retailer Wholesaler Group (RWG) has published its Annual Report for 2024-25, outlining a year of strong collaboration across the water industry to improve outcomes for business customers.

The report highlights the various collaborative activities that have been progressed over the last year by retailers, wholesalers, Ofwat, Defra, Consumer Council for Water and MOSL to reduce friction in the Business Retail Market and embed good practice.

Over the past year, RWG sub-groups have delivered guidance on smart meter roll-out, customer communications and metered tariffs, progressed a market-led drought communications approach and commissioned research into water efficiency incentives. Formed in 2017 when the largest competitive water retail market in the world opened for business, the industry group is formed of retailers and wholesalers who volunteer their time to work together with key market stakeholders to improve the market.

The RWG is led by a Steering Group comprising of the following members:

  • Retailer Chair: Fallon Wilkinson, Head of Regulation and Compliance, Water Plus
  • Wholesaler Chair: Gerard Lyden , Head of Market Development, Thames Water

During the year the RWG approved four new sub-groups – Smart ,Meter Roll Out, Customer Contact Details, Bilaterals Hub and Skip Codes, bringing the active number of sub-groups to eleven.

RWG membership is open to all retailers and wholesalers, CCW, Ofwat and MOSL.
