Northumbrian Water has secured £225k worth of funding from Ofwat ’s Innovation in Water Challenge for a sector-first project which captures ammonia turning it into green hydrogen fuel.
Anglian Water is celebrating following their successful bid in Ofwat’s Innovation in Water Challenge along with Welsh Water, the @one Alliance (which includes Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, MMB, Sweco, Skanska and MWH Treatment) and lead partners Sweco and Skanska for their innovative project ‘Enabling Whole Life Carbon Design’.
Eleven winners of the Innovation in Water Challenge (IWC), the first in a series of competitions funded through Ofwat’s Innovation Fund, will receive up to £250,000 each for initiatives such as converting waste into green energy and using artificial intelligence and CCTV to spot leaks.
Affinity Water has won two entries totalling £344,291 in Ofwat’s Innovation in Water Challenge – run by Nesta Challenges as part of Ofwat’s £200m Innovation Fund.
Thames Water has announced that Francis Paonessa will join the company as its new Capital Delivery Director next week following John Bentley’s decision to leave the business.
