The Environment Agency and its partners in the Severn Valley Water Management Scheme are inviting residents and business owners along the upper Severn Valley to a series of drop-in sessions to find out more about plans to manage water in the Valley.
The Environment Agency is urging the public to ensure they are prepared for a flood as the nation marks the annual ‘Flood Action Week’, which this year runs from 14-20 October.
The Environment Agency says that more than 22,000 properties were protected by the Environment Agency during recent flooding – however, the total number of properties reported to have been flooded stands at around 1,000.
The Environment Agency is warning that heavy rainfall forecast over the next 24 hours across the country means significant river and surface water flooding is possible across central England.
Scientists are warning that recent extreme weather events In Europe are directly attributable to human-induced climate change, with climate models showing roughly a doubling in likelihood and a 7% increase in intensity.
