Regulation and Legislation
Ofwat has announced that it has opened an enforcement case against South West Water as part of its ongoing investigation into how all wastewater companies manage their wastewater treatment works.
Appearing before the House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee last week, Environmental Audit Committee Chair Rt. Hon Phillip Dunne MP questioned the effectiveness of water sector regulators Ofwat and the Environment Agency.
The House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee is set to question the Environment Secretary this week on water quality, biodiversity and other issues as part of its inquiry into The environmental protection policies of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The Environment Agency has published statutory guidance under regulation 15 of the farming rules for water aimed at preventing diffuse water pollution from agricultural sources.
