The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Steve Barclay MP, will appear before the EFRA Committee for the first time in a public evidence session next week on Tuesday 26th March at 2.30pm.
The House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee will continue its inquiry on the role of natural capital in the green economy, with an evidence session exploring how data, standards and monitoring contribute to effective natural capital markets.
Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Olney renewed her attack on Thames Water in a House of Commons debate last week, accusing the water company of dumping over 72 billion litres of raw sewage into rivers in London since 2020 and accruing billions of pounds of debt.
Following the publication of Ofwat’s report into the misreporting of performance data relating to leakage and per capita consumption, Welsh Water has reiterated its apology for this issue that it reported to Ofwat and began investigating in 2022.
Following an investigation by Ofwat, which found Welsh Water misled customers and regulators on its performance on leakage and per capita consumption (PCC) data, the company will have to pay £40 million to benefit its customers.
