Ofwat is looking to appoint a new Director for Change & Engagement as part of its ongoing internal transformational change programme.
Commenting on the new role, Ofwat Chief Executive Rachel Fletcher said:
“Ofwat needs to be at forefront of determining and implementing a regulatory system that will protect customers’ interests, drive efficiencies and innovation, enable efficient companies to finance their functions and to ensure that the ‘promises of privatisation’ are delivered.”
“We all need to have trust and confidence in the water and wastewater services we receive. To do this, Ofwat needs to be at the very top of its game.”
The water sector regulator is in the process of establishing a new small team to co-create and begin to embed new ways of working to help manage the transition. The team will work with a community of change partners and “pollinators” to bring about change.
Initially the dedicated team will include a Director – Change, internal communications and engagement support, a change manager and some existing programme support. Ofwat is also planning to recruit further change management input and some commissioned expertise that will need to be shaped by the new Director.
The role will sit in the Operations Pool that delivers day to day support services for Ofwat. The new appointee will be a key member of the Operations leadership team and will need to work across Ofwat’s entire pool and programme structure to be successful.
The Director – Change & Engagement will take strategic responsibility day to day for the leadership of Ofwat’s new change team over the next 18 months and work closely alongside the Senior Director Business Improvement and other members of the Senior Leadership Team, including the Chief Executive.
Key responsibilities will include performing the role of subject matter expert across Ofwat with primary responsibility for designing and directing Ofwat’s change and internal engagement strategy.
The contract is a fixed term appointment for 18 months – Ofwat said it is also open to secondments/loans from other organisations. Salary range for the role is £75,905 to £113,857.
