Anglian Water has gone out to tender with a Smart Metering AMP 8 framework contract with an estimated total value of £200 million.
Scope of the framework covers the provision of water meters, communication devices, networks and data services for household customers throughout Anglian Water's region, including Hartlepool.
The water company is looking to award a framework agreement to 2 or 3 companies, including a backup supplier.
Anglian Water believes that the key benefits of the Network Programme are:
- Enable Anglian Water to achieve leakage and consumption savings in the order of 52MLD by 2045 closing its deficits by demand side controls and behavioural change. In turn this would avoid large capital expenditure on supply side projects.
- Provide means to enhance the impact of water efficiency measures linked to installing first time meters in an area facing a water deficit in the future.
- Establish Anglian Water as the leading exponent of smart metering in the UK
- Identify customer side water losses and therefore enable customers to reduce their bill
The contract is being tendered in the following three Lots:
- Lot 1 East (£100 million)
- Lot 2 West (£100 million)
- Lot 3 Combined (East and West) (£200 million)
Anglian Water reserves the right to award contracts combining the following lots or groups of lots: award can be East and West or Combined (East and West), plus backup supplier.
The maximum number of lots that may be awarded to one tenderer is three.
