The Coal Authority has issued a prior information notice seeking early supply chain engagement as it prepares to re-tender its upcoming £ multi- million engineering services framework contract.
The current framework consisting of fourteen lots will expire in January 2022. AECOM, Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure UK, Atkins Ld, CDM Smith Ireland Ltd, Jeremy Benn Associates , Mott MacDonald, Ramboll, Ricardo Energy & Environment), RSK Environment Ltd, Turner & Townsend Project Management Ltd and WSP UK Ltd are among the companies with a place on the current framework.
The Authority will be looking to appoint suppliers for the provision of services on an as and when required basis, predominantly in relation to the effects of past mining liabilities and other areas of responsibility of the Coal Authority.
Services required under the new framework will include:
- Investigation into the causes of failure
- condition assessment
- damage quantification
- solution design for damage to roads, bridges, buildings, drainage land etc. caused by past mining.
The areas of expertise required under the framework could include:
- civil, structural, geotechnical, mining, mechanical and electrical engineering
- environmental, health and safety, contract procurement, agricultural and specialist land drainage advice relating to past coal mining subsidence
- liabilities and other specialist service areas such as hydrology and hydrogeology

13 Drone and other autonomous equipment surveying
14 Listed and older building support
15 Cost consultancy services
The Coal Authority is looking to invite interested companies to join it in one of two market engagement events this to understand better its requirements for the framework.
The events will take place over a video conferencing platform and will be held on the following dates.
21 June 2021 - 1300-1400hrs
22 June 2021 - 1100-1100hrs
The Coal Authority is aiming to publish a formal contract notice in July 2021.
