Scottish Water is seeking expressions of interest from existing and potential new service providers who can offer services to maximise value from its bio-resource materials including energy generation.

Scottish Water is seeking expressions of interest from existing and potential new service providers who can offer services to maximise value from its bio-resource materials including energy generation.

The water company currently produces approximately 14 000 dry tonnes of bio-resource per annum within central Scotland -Tayside, Fife, Falkirk, Perth and Kinross, and Stirling. The material is a dewatered cake which varies in dried solids from approximately 20 to 25 %.

Scottish Water said the services could include utilising advanced energy recovery technologies to maximise energy recovery from Scottish Water’s bio-resource materials. Alternatively the bio-resource material could provide a feedstock to either an existing or new service provider’s energy recovery facility.

Scotttish Water is providing provide advance notice to the market to encourage suppliers to provide their views on the potential scope of energy recovery services on offer to Scottish Water for its bio-resources.

The estimated annual value of the future potential contract is around £1 million a year.

Interested parties are asked to provide brief details of their company, the services potentially on offer to Scottish Water, and outline of the energy from waste technology and potential locations of the service providers facility.

Deadline for any potential suppliers to register their interest is 5.00 p.m. on 27th September 2019.
