The water company is going to market for strategic partners to provide services relating to power generators, high voltage, low voltage, uninterruptable power supply (UPS) and transformers.

The procurement process is likely be a two-stage restricted tender to set up a Power framework agreement lasting 4 years, with an option to extend for a period of up to 4 years.

The water company will be running a supplier engagement event on 12th July 2023 (between 10am - 12pm) prior to launch of the tender which will include Southern Water stakeholders from Operations, Engineering & Capital, and Procurement. It is anticipated that the opportunity will be formally published in Q3 2023.

The supply of equipment and services will be across the entire Southern Water region which covers Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

One of the water company’s key aims is resilience; Southern has a requirement to ensure 24/7 365 that they have fully maintained fixed and mobile power generators, Uninterruptible Power Supply, switchgear, High Voltage (HV) equipment and Low Voltage equipment.

The water company has over 400 sites, including water pumping stations, sewage treatment works, water treatment works and sewage pumping stations, many of which require HV maintenance or isolation as required.

The contract is currently split across the following 9 Lots:

  1. Supply and Installation of Generators
  2. Supply and Installation of UPS
  3. Generator Maintenance
  4. UPS Maintenance
  5. Generator Hire
  6. HV Maintenance & Training
  7. LV Maintenance
  8. Supply and Installation of Transformers
  9. Supply and Installation of HV

 

Estimated total value of the contract is £120 million.

Southern Water reserves the right to award contracts combining Lots and bidders will be eligible to apply for one or more of the available Lots.
