The Environment Agency (EA) has issued a statement to clarify the current ongoing uncertainty surrounding the stalled £4 million Arundel flood defence scheme in West Sussex and problems with obtaining additional funding.
Emma Howard Boyd, Chair of the Environment Agency has launched a robust defence of the Agency’s flood defence work in response to two separate articles in The Times and The Telegraph newspapers published on Tuesday 18th February.
The Environment Agency is warning of the threat of further significant flooding for Northern England # as river level records across the country are broken .
The Environment Agency has started work on upgrading a £2 million flood defence scheme which currently protects more than 100 properties in Bristol.
The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has today criticised the “shambles” of Boris Johnson’s flooding response, accusing the Prime Minister of “absolutely zero leadership”, saying he should be “ashamed” of the government’s failure to plan for floods in the long-term.
