Regulation and Legislation
Ofwat’s State of the market 2020-21: Review of the fourth year of the business retail water market concludes that while business customers who are active and engage in the water retail market continue to benefit from competition and choice, the market is working less well for smaller business customers.
Ofwat has launched a new consultation on its proposed approach to how bioresources activities could be funded at the upcoming Price Review in 2024 (PR24).
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has found that the merger of Veolia and Suez could lead to a loss of competition in the supply of water and wastewater management services in the UK.
Somerset farm business Alvis Brothers Ltd, of Lye Cross Farm, Redhill, has been ordered to pay £37,184 for polluting a tributary of the Congresbury Yeo.
Ofwat Interim Chief Executive, David Black has written an open letter to water customers telling them that If the regulator finds that water and wastewater companies have done wrong, Ofwat will hold them to account.
