Regulation and Legislation
The Regulators’ Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development (RAPID) has launched a new consultation on its proposals to establish common regulatory and commercial frameworks needed for the development of strategically important water resource supply solutions.
Ofwat has today published a discussion paper setting out options to strengthen water companies' financial resilience.
Ofwat is today proposing a small and temporary increase to the price caps in the business retail market - the temporary increase is intended to allow retailers to share some of the unexpected costs associated with bad debt that have arisen following the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ofwat has finalised its decision which will see Thames Water pay over £11 million to 13,800 business customers and water retailers for errors in its data which led to customers being billed the wrong amount.
Water companies have made progress towards meeting challenging targets set by the regulator to tackle issues such as leakage, but some companies’ environmental records are still not good enough, according to the latest annual assessment of water companies’ performance by Ofwat.
