Regulation and Legislation
Ofwat has stepped in to ward off the risk of systemic failure and possible collapse of the still-developing retail water market as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 emergency.
The Environment Agency has extended the deadline to submit responses to its current river basin planning consultation Challenges and Choices by five months because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is inviting comments by 11 May 2020 on the appeals from four water companies who rejected Ofwat’s 2019 Price Review Final Determinations on their business plans for the period 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2025.
Ofwat is consulting a further package of measures aimed at protecting business retail customers and minimising disruption in the market as the coronavirus emergency continues.
Water sector regulator Ofwat is stepping in to put a series of interim measures in place to help business customers struggling to pay their water and sewerage bills on time as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak.
