Regulation and Legislation
Ofwat has kickstarted its approach to the recent appeals by four UK water companies to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) against its PR19 Final Determination (FD) decisions on their individual AMP7 business plans with a robust defence of the Price Review process, the work of the regulator and how it arrived at its FD decisions.
The National Audit Office (NAO) is warning that the government must take more concerted action now to prevent parts of southern England running out of water within 20 years.
Jonson Cox, Chair of water sector regulator Ofwat has told the investment community that achieving “net zero” in the water sector by 2030 will need “meaningful investor support and funding” in AMP7.
The Competition and Markets Authority is getting ready to appoint a special reference group as part of the appeals process for the four water companies who have rejected Ofwat’s Final Determinations in the 2019 Price Review.
The House of Commons Scrutiny Unit has announced that due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the work of the Environment Bill Committee has been temporarily suspended.
