Regulation and Legislation
The water industry regulator has announced that it is revoking the water and wastewater supply licences of two independent retailers operating in the competitive water retail market – Tor Water and Peel Water.
Ofwat is warning that shareholders’ rewards for investors in the water sector “will only be earned through a new standard of operational excellence” and that investors “need to face up to the new reality.”
Ofwat has published detailed requirements of what it expects water company Boards to provide on annual basis to confirm they have sufficient financial and non-financial resources to carry out their regulated activities.
The Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) for England and Wales is emphasising that it does not expect the quality of drinking water in England and Wales to be compromised in any way as a result of Brexit.
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs has announced today that the government’s Environment Bill has been introduced to Parliament.
