Regulation and Legislation
Ofwat has published the Terms of Reference for the Regulators’ Alliance for Progressing Infrastructure Development (RAPID) – the organisation which brings together the 3 water regulators to improve regulation and remove barriers to help the water sector respond to long term water resources challenges.
Gloucester Gateway Ltd, owners of Gloucester M5 Services, have donated £60,000 to Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust following an Environment Agency investigation into a sewage pollution incident.
The Competition and Markets Authority has warned over the potential impact of inadequate regulation on competition in the UK and expressed concerns that regulation can stifle competition and raise barriers to entry.
The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) is calling for a major shift in UK land use to deliver Net Zero emissions in its first ever in-depth advice to the Government on UK agricultural policies - and wants to see water companies mandated to restore peatland under their ownership.
MOSL Chairman Jim Keohane has said “we know we need to improve delivery and rebuild trust”, following what he describes as a challenging year for the retail water sector’s market operator.
